Ozzy and Sydney Were Quite the Pair

by Keith
(Connecticut)

A few weeks ago (9/23), I had to say goodbye to my best friend Ozzy (Blue Merle). He was just a few weeks shy of his 13th birthday. His kidneys had started failing and he stopped eating and just got real weak. It was a tough decision, but I didn't want him getting any worse. He got to maintain his dignity, went to the park one last time, rode in the front seat with the window down and walked into the vet's office by himself.

A week later, his sister Sydney (red) had been lost without him. She decided she wanted to be with him at the rainbow bridge and just collapsed inside my house. I'm glad it went quick and she didn't suffer, but it was just real shocking.

I've never had dogs before so losing Ozzy was really difficult. I knew Syd was attached to him and thought this might happen, but not so soon.

We have a blue and red merle (m & f) who are 10 and 9. They have been each other’s constant companions for past 9 years and your experience really hit home for us.

I hope you find some comfort in knowing that your two had a wonderful lives with a family who loved them.
