Pooping During Agility Training

by Sam
(Eau Claire, WI)

My 1 and half year old male Aussie always poops half way through our agility training. He will go before training but never makes it through without going again. I can't run him too much before training cause it will tire him out too much. We are hoping to start competing in the next 6 months so this issue needs to be resolved, anyone have any ideas.

Thanks.

Your dog seems to be stressed. Maybe you should talk to the trainer about this situation. I would run him before class because it could relieve some of the stress. I used to play frisbee for 20 minutes during a trial to get one of my dogs to settle enough to run. She was wonderful and focused after we had our play time. Sometimes I do use Rescue Remedy before a stressful situation. There are other natural products on the market that can help with stress. I have used Calms tablet from Foster and Smith which seem to work really well.
My Bryn is also 1 1/2 and I plan to start showing her in agility soon, too. Hope to see you at some trials in the midwest!
