Cody and some of my grandchildren

I adopted my Aussie from the Humane Society. I was actually looking for an older, smaller companion for my greyhound, but there was Dakota looking at me with those "Get me OUTTA here" eyes and I couldn't resist. I had never seen an Aussie before and thought he was some kind of collie mix! I was told that he was a pure bred Aussie whose owner had died, and that he was 3. When I took him in for his checkup my vet told me that there was no better dog than a mellow Aussie. And Cody (as he is now called) is one mellow boy. He sleeps next to my bed, we go for lots of walks, and he is fabulous with all my grandchildren, even the 17 month old who calls him Toadie and gives him big, open mouth kisses! (ew!)
I just lucked in to my Aussie, but I couldn't love him more than if I had researched the breed. He chose me!
