Question About Gastropexy While Spaying Our Puppy

by Monique Iwan
(Winnipeg, Canada)

Our vet has recommended gastropexy while they are spaying our puppy. Has anyone done this for their Aussie? Is it common?

Hope to hear back. Thanks so much.

Surgery question

I’m not an expert at all, but I don’t understand why a vet would recommend this for this breed. Normally the bloat it is done to prevent happens in much larger breeds, and even is a rare occurrence I think. If it were me I would be doing a lot more research before I would allow this surgery for a young Aussie.
