Question Regarding Australian Shepherd Ownership

I am considering getting an Aussie Shepherd. I am a fit, retired, 80-year-old, widower living in an inner suburb of Melbourne.

There is a large off-lead park nearby. I will have plenty of time to exercise the dog.

Would you recommend getting a puppy or an older dog. If a puppy, I’m prepared to get professional help with training.
