Rashes On My Aussie

by Lindy Y.
(Goshen, IN)

I have a 1.5 year old Aussie who has this rash on his back, sides, belly, and on the inside of his legs (and those are just the places I've currently found them at).

They scab pretty quick and then heal up but it still keeps appearing! He has had it for several months now and I asked my vet about it and she just thought it was the carpet in his crate which I removed about a month ago.

I don't think it's his food because he's had the same name brand ever since he was a pup. There are four other dogs in the house and none of them are showing the rash.

Could it be an allergy? I'm thinking it might be his shampoo but I only give him shampooed baths every other month or so.

I wondered if anyone else has this on their Aussie?? Or if you have any tips on what it could be would much appreciated!

If you could please share your opinion about it before I make another appointment with the vet concerning the situation.

Troubling rash

My pup started scratching about the same age. He was on a high quality chicken based kibble. I changed to a pork based food, same brand, and he stopped scratching. It is fairly common for dogs to be allergic to chicken. Perhaps try changing his food and see if that helps.
It does sound like an allergy of some kind.
