Stand/Stay?

How do I get my Aussie teenager to stand/stay. I have tried and he just stands still for seconds. I need longer time than that. Any suggestions?

Put the treat in your hand, get him to stand and then have him nibble the treat from your hand as you say "good stand". Lengthen the time that you do this each time and before long your boy will be standing while you say "stay". Make sure you don't lift the treat over his head or he will sit.

Joyce,
You have to give him time... if he is a teenager, short attention span.
Do it for a few seconds and once he has that down, increase the time by a couple of seconds.
Lots of praise and treats when he does it on his own. It has to be repeated enough to go from short term memory into his long term memory.
Keep working on it, and good luck.
