Starting My Aussie On A Diet

by Saul
(California)

I need to rehome my Sweetie for various reasons. But first, she needs a diet. I have been giving her a handful of dry food twice a day. My dog does not get much exercise. Can anyone recommend a diet plan so I can start with a diet for my dog?

If you have to re home your aussie, why are you changing food now? The new owners or the person who adopts her may not like that food and have to change her to something else. Just keep giving her the food she is on now making sure she is getting enough.

Every dog food comes with a recommended amount. Give the dog 10% less than the recommended amount and cut out the treats and no table food ever. But if you are re-homing the dog, maybe consider a doing so sooner through a rescue or foster organization. Getting the dog some exercise is critical for their mental health and happiness, too. If you are unable to provide that, let the rescue group know.
