What Gives My Greyish Bi Australian Shepherd His Unique Coloring?

I have an Aussie that is grey and white, he looks like a red bi except instead of red he is grey. Although in some areas he looks a little red.

Does anyone know what may give him this unique coloring?

I don't have papers proving he's pure Australian Shepherd and I'm wondering if maybe he has some Border Collie?

If you have any thoughts please share! Thanks

Dilute?

Could this be a "Dilute Color"? Is anyone familiar with that?

He/she looks like a sun bleached red bi to me.

He's a red dilute bi. The D locus dilute is in the Aussie gene pool. Nothing to indicate he isn't purebred.
