What Kind of Dog Harness Would You Recommend for My Australian Shepherd?

by Bruni Martínez
(Fort Lauderdale, Fl)

Hi! My name is Bruni. I would like to know what kind of dog harness you recommend for my Aussie.

She pulls on the leash. She is 40 pounds, neck 15", and chest 24". I need one with a good handle and a V style.

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Bruni

Harness

I don’t recommend using a harness at all. They just encourage pulling. I prefer the Gentle Leader Head Halter (Not the Halti). You have more control with this tool and it will help teach them to walk nicely on a leash as you are training.

Easy Walk Harness

Easy Walk with hook in front of chest. My Mini Aussie pulled like a sled dog when the hook was on her neck or back. I really enjoy walking her now because she follows the pull of the front hook.

I like the Ruffwear Hi and Light Dog Harness.
They also make an excellent car harness for dogs.

Depends on the activity

The perfect harness will depend on what you and your pup will be doing. Skijoring? Agility? Flyball? Nose work? Walking? Riding in the car?
